Setting Up Live Notifications

Metavent has a great communication tool that you can use to inform Explorers (commonly known as “attendees”) through your event. Using Notifications, you can create timed and urgent notifications to keep your Explorers up-to-date on your event.

Learn how to pre-program your event notifications. Start by entering your event under Events on the metavent dashboard. Enter your event dashboard, scroll down to Live! Control Center and click on Notifications.

Once the Notifications page opens, you will see two areas: Live Notifications and Live! Completed Notifications. Create your first scheduled notification by clicking on Add Notification. A pop-up window will appear for you to add your first notification.

Next, fill in the notification details, including the notification title, the date and time, the location you want your notification to show, the type of notification. Finally, click on Save Notification and your notification will show under Live! Notifications as a scheduled notification. Once it goes live, it will then move down to Live! Completed Notifications, where you can view all of your notifications that have been completed.

Now let’s look at two types of notifications and their impact on your event.

Normal Alert notifications are basic notifications that will show on the top of the browser page in metavent. Use these types of notifications to provide gentle nudges to your Explorers about other sessions ongoing, give them a “warning bell” about upcoming sessions and to provide welcome messages as they move through metavent. Usually these notifications are pre-programmed in advance so that you can avoid any typos or errors in timing.

Red Alert notifications are utilized when last minute changes in your event occur and you want to quickly inform your Explorers about them. These notifications will show with a red banner at the top of the metavent platform to indicate their importance. Unlike Normal Alerts, Red Alerts are not timed in advance and usually occur when a vital piece of information needs to be relayed to Explorers. Make sure to check your Notification for accuracy and adjust timing so that it can properly relayed at the appropriate time.
